From Self-Care to Community Care

Documented at a Stories from the Beauty Parlour event at Studio 14 in Berlin, this series captures a gathering centred on community, solidarity and collective action. Bringing together women and LGBTQIA+ individuals, the event created a space for connection while supporting a wider mission to amplify voices often excluded from traditional structures of funding and public representation.

Through storytelling, local programming and transnational mobilization, Stories from the Beauty Parlour reimagines the beauty parlour as more than a place of personal care: it becomes a meeting point where conversations around gender inequality, migration, human rights, education and climate justice can emerge. These photographs document the energy and intimacy of that community, while reflecting the organization’s effort to transform industries built around women into sources of support for feminist initiatives and women’s causes worldwide.
