A city in solidarity

Photographed across several years in Berlin, this series documents demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine at locations including Südstern and Kottbusser Tor. Protesters carrying Palestinian flags, keffiyehs and banners gathered through marches, speeches and chants to draw attention to the continuing violence, displacement and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, while transforming the city’s streets into spaces of collective grief, resistance and political expression.

Alongside the demonstrations themselves, the photographs record the increasingly tense relationship between protesters and Berlin police. Images of crowd control, confrontations, arrests and the use of force document the treatment of participants and the restrictions placed on Palestinian solidarity in public space. Together, the series traces both the endurance of the movement and the conditions under which it has been made visible in Berlin.
